The Frequency‐Domain Characterization of Cosmic Ray Intensity Variations Before Forbush Decreases Associated with Geomagnetic Storms

چکیده
Nonrecurrent geomagnetic storms caused by Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) can induce serious impacts on space- and ground-based equipment. However, these nonrecurrent are hard to predict since CMEs not periodic. Previous studies have shown that the variations of Cosmic Ray Intensity (CRI) before may forebode coming storm. But it is difficult extract cosmic ray flux a complex signal. In order identify precursory signal in CRI triggered CME, an ensemble self-adaptive time-frequency analysis method was proposed applied 65 occurred between 1998 2019. The results indicate signals successfully identified 43 45 storms, after excluding 20 accompanied ground level enhancement. addition, also found spectral density could reflect active condition, which lower during quiet period.

Severe geomagnetic storms and Forbush decreases: interplanetary relationships reexamined
Severe storms (Dst) and Forbush decreases (FD) during cycle 23 showed that maximum negative Dst magnitudes usually occurred almost simultaneously with the maximum negative values of the Bz component of interplanetary magnetic field B, but the maximum magnitudes of negative Dst and Bz were poorly correlated (+0.28). A parameter Bz(CP) was calculated (cumulative partial Bz) as sum of the hourly n...
متن کاملSpace weather and dangerous phenomena on the Earth: principles of great geomagnetic storms forcasting by online cosmic ray data
According to NOAA space weather scales, geomagnetic storms of scales G5 (3-h index of geomagnetic activity Kp=9), G4 (Kp=8) and G3 (Kp=7) are dangerous for satellites, aircrafts, and even for technology on the ground (influence on power systems, on spacecraft operations, on HF radio-communications and others). We show on the basis of statistical data, that these geomagnetic storms, mostly accom...
متن کاملPrecipitation, cloud cover and Forbush decreases in galactic cosmic rays
The results of a study to explore variations in cloud cover, over regions that are minimally affected by rainfall and heavy rainfall, and that are coincident with variations in the galactic cosmic ray flux, are presented. Using an extensive record of global satellite derived cloud and rainfall products from the International Satellite Cloud Climatology Project (ISCCP) D1 data series and Xie and...
متن کاملBalloon Observations of Galactic Cosmic Ray Helium before and during a Forbush Decrease
The energy spectrum of galactic cosmic ray Helium was measured in two different balloon experiments launched four days apart from Canada: SMILI-I on 1-Sept-1989 and MASS on 5-Sept-1989. A slow Forbush decrease began on 4-Sept-1989 and had not reached its maximum at the time of the MASS flight. Comparison of the balloon measurements shows a fractional crease of 0.37 to 0.15 in the Helium flux be...
متن کاملCosmic ray variations of solar origin in relation to human physiological state during the December 2006 solar extreme events
There is an increasing amount of evidence linking biological effects to solar and geomagnetic disturbances. A series of studies is published referring to the changes in human physiological responses at different levels of geomagnetic activity. In this study, the possible relation between the daily variations of cosmic ray intensity, measured by the Neutron Monitor at the Cosmic Ray Station of t...
